St. Andrew’s are proud to be a member of the Inclusive Church network: https://www.inclusive-church.org/
“We believe in inclusive Church – a Church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate. We will continue to challenge the Church where it continues to discriminate against people on grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality. We believe in a Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.”

St Andrew’s, an inclusive church on South Cliff, is the first church in Scarborough to be awarded a Bronze Eco-Church Award. A Rocha’s award scheme is for churches in England and Wales who want to demonstrate that the gospel is good news for God’s earth. It considers lots of areas in church life including worship and learning, management of church buildings and land, community and global engagement, and lifestyle.

As a church we commit to using Fairtrade products wherever possible.

As a church, we are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all who come through our doors, and those in the community around us. We follow Good Practice 6: Safeguarding for Everyone, produced by the United Reformed Church, and the members of the Eldership Team and Children’s Team have undertaken training on the contents of this guide.

At St. Andrew’s, we recognise the importance of welcoming families and children into our Church. We run a thriving playgroup on the 1st Thursday of each month, as well as regular Messy Church sessions and other family and community events. During our weekly Sunday Worship, there are activities for children to join in with, to support their understanding and knowledge of Jesus Christ. These activities are run by members of our Children’s Team, all of whom hold enhanced DBS clearance.

Messy Church sessions are open to everyone – families, couples and individuals of all ages! These popular sessions are crammed with crafts, music, stories, games and activities, all following a chosen theme. We are well known for our fun treasure hunts during each Messy Church, and we finish each session with a lunch of pizza, crisps and ice cream!
Messy Church sessions are free to attend, but we do welcome donations.
You can find details of future Messy Church sessions by joining our Facebook Group: Messy Church at St Andrew’s Scarborough | Facebook
